Topolino Revelation v39 wheels use their unique, aero-profile Carbon Core spokes. They've sure got a unique look about them.

The Revelation v39s have 24 spokes in the front, 30 in the rear, yet are amazingly just 1,170 grams per pair. It's a tubular wheelset, strong and fast.

Maxxis has a new road racing tire, the Courchevel, that makes use of their 3C "Triple Compound Technology." 3C is three distinct silca-based compounds of different hardness. The center tread is build for long life and low rolling resistance, while the two side compounds are progressively softer for better grip as the turns get faster and tighter. The rep from Maxxis told us the placement of the three compounds is well thought, putting the appropriate grip compound at the right place on the tire. He also said this reduces the feel of the transition.

When it hits store shelves, you'll have your choice of Maxxis orange and grey or grey and black. The Courchevel has a Kevlar belt and weighs in at 205 grams.

Silca is the bike pump king. Known for durability and fully replaceable parts, a Silca floor pump is one of the few pieces of bicycle-related hardware that can actually be passed down a generation or more and still be functional and practical.

We stopped by the Silca booth, a small 6x6' affair, and talked with the lone gentleman there. He seemed surprised to have someone show interest but happy to tell us the latest version of the Silca Super Pista and converse with us in English as we attempted our best, broken Italian.

The Super Pista is the top-end floor pump by Silca. It's different from the Pista (regular) because of its traditional wooden handle and longer, heavy-duty metal barrel. The Super Pista comes in solid and other "special colors", including this carbon-look finish. It has a solid brass Presta/schrader chuck and generates up to 210 lbs. (15 bars) of pressure. The Super Pista used to come with a metal base, but now it's durable plastic, allowing the base to be made wider for stability but still be lighter in weight. And yes, it's made in Italy

FSA (Full Speed Ahead) was showing off plenty of sleek and powerful looking carbon components. Two cranksets caught our attention first.

The Carbon Pro Team Issue Road Crankset is a monocoque crankarm/spider with CNC machined aluminum AL7075/T6 chainrings. It's a typical 130 bolt circle diameter and works with ISIS drive bottom brackets. Weight: 560 grams. Only the Superlight and SLK (505 and 535 grams, both not shown) are lighter.

FSA's K-Force MegaExo is its latest creation. It, too, is a monocoque carbon crankarm/spider, but this version works with FSA's MegaExo external oversize bearing cups. The K-Force MegaExo comes in regular (130 BCD) and compact (110 BCD) forms and weighs in at 785 grams (regular) / 780 grams (compact), including bottom bracket.

The Carbon Pro Team Issue Road Crankset comes in a compact, too, and both cranks are also available in triples.

FSA also had a nice set of carbon wheels on display, the RD-800s (a.k.a. RD-800T). They debuted last year but are still eye-catchers. 18 spokes in the front, 18 in the rear, and just 1.2 kg for the pair.

Like last year, and as far into the future as we can see, carbon will continue to be the material of choice.

ITM displayed its new CX2 Carbon time trial bars. We can't time trial worth a lick, but figure these bars would at least make us look faster. According to ITM, "its particular shape allows the most efficient aerodynamic position to the rider." Look fast, go fast.

Lance Bohlen, avid inventor for KORE, talked us through some of their latest components. Lance (who reminded us a lot of Jeff Goldblum) first told us about the PalmPilot bar grips on display. He said he they're exactly what they look like, ergonomic bar grips for the top of road bars. He came up with the idea after not being satisfied by the feel of bars on his bike, especially on climbs. A lot of bars have flat top sections that, if the bar isn’t angled the way the manufacturer envisioned, don’t fit the hands right. The compromise would be to reposition the bar, but then the rider might not feel right in the drops or on the hoods. KORE's grips allow for an ergonomic and comfortable grip, and possibly slightly better climbing performance.

Lance also showed us a headset and spacers (sorry, no photo) with subtle male/female ends. The ends fitted into each other, allowing everything to stack cleanly and solidly. He also showed us a single-rail seat/seatpost combo (sorry, no photo again).

Last from KORE is their new road bar, the Elite Cockpit. It's full carbon, like so many others, but what caught our attention was the knurled bar top and grooves for brake and shift cable housing.

More carbon from Syntace. The Racelite Carbon 31.8 is an over-size clamp diameter bar with bends that Syntace says allows the rider to be in the drops while staying in a comfortable position. The clamp area has an integrated Ti-mesh to enhance stem grip while protecting the carbon surface from damage. Weight: 178 grams for the 440mm sized bar.

The XXS is one of several of Syntace's time trial bars. They say it's "the world's lightest and shortest aerobar featuring biomechanically superior, shock absorbing armrests." It weighs in at just 328 grams.

A nice gentleman at Alpha Q spent a little time with us telling about their latest forks: the Grand Tour Series GS-10, GS-20, and GS-30. Somewhere along the way we lost our brochures/info, so we can't tell you much except that we remember the GS-10, the one used by Team CSC, is currently available only in a copper/burnt orange color, and that all are made using Alpha Q's Carbon Rooting Technology (CRT) and nanotechnology to make the forks stronger and lighter.
Three of Selle Italia's SLR saddles: C64 (all carbon, 76 grams), Teknologika (carbon with leather cushion, 99 grams), and Teknologika Flow (carbon with leather cushion, anatomic cutout, 95 grams).

Our spider-sense was tingling when we walked by the Tioga Spyder saddle. It has a look a certain web-crawler would love but isn't limited to the red and blue superhero types. The Spyder provides comfort without padding because the carbonite composite carbon shell has strategically placed cut-outs to allow flex. Weight: 135 grams.

Adidas 2006 Evil Eye ClimaCool sunglasses have adjustable/fitting arms and nosepiece. The rubber compound gives the glasses flexibility to form to varying head/face sizes and shapes.

Adidas AdiStar Super Pro Classic shoe is a "technological update of a 1970's classic." It has a reserved, classic styling featuring a full grain leather upper with lots of current technology features such as a carbon outsole and quick-fit closure. Weight: 285 grams (size 8.5 UK).
